Excess is an amount of money charged if you make a claim with an individual provider. Keep in mind that excess is charged per event.
How much do travel agents and airlines charge for travel insurance?
Be careful when you auto-select travel insurance through travel agents and/or airlines as they tend to charge up to 50% commission on the price of the policies they sell. Buy direct and don't pay for convenience. We recommend you read reviews for each travel
insurance company before deciding on one!
Are the prices see per person, or per policy?
In most cases the policy is per person, depending on how many people you include in your quote.
Does Aami travel insurance cover any sports?
Yes, it covers certain sporting activities like skiing and surfing, but it doesn’t cover others like hunting, abseiling, mountain climbing, football etc.
Is car hire excess covered in my policy?
Yes, although Aami does not cover the hired car, you will be covered for any excess costs that you have to pay for it.
Are my travel documents covered?
Yes, Aami covers travel documents such as visas, tickets and passports, but they don’t cover traveller’s checks, debit cards, credit cards or cash.
Are medical expenses included in my cover?
Yes, the company provides unlimited medical cover including cover for any injuries or illnesses sustained while travelling, as well as dental care. However, it doesn’t provide cover for pre-existing medical conditions or injuries and illnesses that were sustained in Australia, or that are covered by Medicare.
How long is my cover valid for?
Your Aami travel insurance cover will be valid for 180 days, or in the case of cancelled trips, from the date in which the policy was issued to the date on which it ends.
Will my policy cover overseas work?
Yes, but on condition that the work is for an Australian employer, and was a part of your arrangements before you left for your trip.
