Direct answer: Travel Insurance Reviews is an independent website that explains how travel insurance works for Australian residents, so you can read a Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) with confidence and compare policies yourself.
What we publish
- Guides to common situations, such as annual multi-trip cover, pre-existing medical conditions, seniors, pregnancy, cruises and ski trips. See all guides.
- Brand pages that describe how a travel insurance brand is structured (who issues the policy, who provides assistance and who sells it) and what to check in its PDS. See insurance companies.
- Destination notes on what to think about for particular trips. See destinations.
- A step-by-step comparison framework and answers to frequently asked questions.
What we are not
We are not an insurer, broker, comparison service or holder of an Australian Financial Services Licence. We do not sell policies, provide quotes, bind cover or advise on claims. Everything on this site is general information only, not personal advice. Always read the current PDS and confirm cover with the insurer before you buy.
How we work
We review by reading public PDS wordings and official consumer information, such as ASIC's Moneysmart, Smartraveller and the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). We do not invent premiums, star ratings or "best insurer" rankings, and no business pays to be featured. Our full method is on how we review.
Corrections and contact
Policy wordings change. If something on this site is out of date, please tell us through the contact page with a link to the current document. Please do not send health records, passport scans or policy application details.
